About Wayfare Tavern
Chef Tyler Florence's flagship restaurant is a timeless San Francisco tavern featuring authentic American dishes inspired by local cuisine at the turn of the 20th century. Classic dishes like the Famous Wayfare Tavern Fried Chicken, Seasonal Deviled Eggs, and Burrata Whipped Potatoes have been staples on the menu for 15 years, with rotating seasonal dishes to keep things new and exciting. The experience is rounded out by an extensive wine list, heavily featuring California wines, and the timeless tradition of classic cocktails at the bar.

Wayfare Tavern moved to 201 Pine Street in the spring of 2025 after 14 years on Sacramento Street. The new location expands our bar, private dining areas, and kitchen, allowing us to serve the downtown community with greater variety and elevated offerings. Designed by Jon De la Cruz, the space pays homage to the original tavern while delivering something fresh, dynamic, and unmistakably San Francisco.

The reimagined Wayfare Tavern honors the nostalgia of the original space, while infusing a renewed energy that reflects the spirit of San Francisco in 2025. Elegant black, green, and white marble floors, paired with white oak paneling and tufted red leather and velvet booths, evoke the charm of early 1900s San Francisco. A striking gold leaf mural by DeGournay nods to the California Gold Rush and the Barbary Coast, while grand custom chandeliers—each with 21 lights—draw inspiration from turn-of-the-century European cafés.
